Graham
Scarborough Davidson (1967
- 2003)
Dear Audrey,
I recently found out about what happened to Graham. Let me start by saying how sad I was to hear about it. I knew Graham in High school. I had only been living in Abilene for a few months when I started Cooper High School. Graham was a senior and I was a sophomore and we were in a photography class. I was immediately drawn to her because she was so funny and genuinely nice. When it was time for winter formal Graham asked me who I was going with and I told her that I hadn't been invited. Graham said not to worry about that and she picked me up after school and went out of her way to get me an invite. I know it sounds trivial now but at the time it was a huge deal for me. I have never forgot her kindness. Another occasion that stands out is when Graham just found out that she was nominated for Homecoming Queen. She walked into class, throws her arms into the air and shouts "I'm popular!". Only Graham could get away with that!!! She was truly a free spirited and wonderful person. Thank you for permitting me to share these memories with you. Please offer my condolences to her family. Sincerely, Sandi Gunn Ireland ______________________________________ Hi Audrey
I was so happy to find your page
dedicated to Graham Davidson. Like many others, I was just another fan
of her art who crossed her path quite a few years ago. When I told her
I was looking for a gift for a couple of friends of mine who were
having a commitment ceremony in Provincetown, she offered to
personalize it for me, putting the couples name and date. She even told
me to get as specific as I wanted - hair color, eyes and body type. My
only regret was not buying a piece for myself. I wanted her piece
titled "Adam & Steve" which was the one I chose for my friends gift.
Do you know of any place that
still offers her art?
Sincerely,
David

__________________________________________ I just found out
about Graham and cannot believe it. She and I met while she was in school at
Austin and I had just moved there from Albany,NY. We became instant
friends. I traveled to Abilene with her, to Mexico, and ran all around Austin
together. When I had to move back to NY, she honored me with 2 paintings, one
of her and one of me. I treasure them. After going back to TX to visit
her and Louise, we eventually lost touch. Imagine my surprise then when I
saw a sign with her name on it at a craft fair in Saratoga. How
in the world did my lovable Texas girl land in upstate NY? She wasn't feeling
well so she wasn't at her booth for a while, but I waited until she showed
up. We planned time together and eventually she got to meet my husband and
son. In fact, my cousin Bonnie flew up from Houston so we could all be
together one more time. When Bonnie told me today that Graham was gone,
neither one of us could understand how such a positive force of energy in
the world could have been gone and we didn't know it. Its been 3 1/2 years
and for us it is now brand new. How horrible and tragic. I have
picutes from her from throughout our friendship, but the one image I can't get out
of my mind was from that final visit. I'd love to share my images of
her with her family, friends and fans.
I'll always miss you Graham "like in crackers". Melissa Riven Mirabile Albany, NY ______________________________________________ AUDREY:
MY WIFE, CARMITA VOGEL, WAS/IS A BIG FAN OF GRAHAMS WORK AND HAS SEVERAL OF HER PIECES. I WAS WONDERING IF ANY IS STILL AVAILABLE ANYWHERE. ANYWAY, SHE SAID SHE WAS SPENDING THE NIGHT IN THE PARKING LOT IN HER VAN. WE ENCOURAGED HER TO SPEND THE NIGHT AT OUR HOUSE AND WE TOOK HER OUT TO DINNER AND SHE SLEPT ON OUR SOFA. WHAT A LIVELY PERSON!!! SHE SHOWED US PICTURES OF HER HUSBAND ‘STEPH’ AND TOLD US ALL ABOUT THEIR PLANS. PLEASE ADVISE. THANKS. Hans M. Ruppenthal |
