"The Morula Series"
Sarah Lutz exhibited her
paintings at Audart in the Spring of 1997 - a body of work comprised of
small canvas panels painted with geometric lines, squares and checkerboard
patterns, each having botanical elements to depict the seasons. Sarah's
work, though abstract, makes constant references to nature. Many
of these paintings were reminiscent of folk art gameboards; others resembled
the sections of a quilt and were particularly interesting when grouped
together.
The evolution of Sarah's work has resulted in "The Morula Series", a collection of paintings of cell clusters or "morulae", which were exhibited at The Painting Center in New York in April of 2003. Sarah has been affiliated with The Painting Center since 1999. She has also had solo exhibitions at the Richmond Art Center in Windsor, Connecticut and at 55 Mercer Gallery in New York City. She exhibits regularly at DNA Gallery in Provincetown, Massachusetts. |
